Interview with Oseni Islamiat Arinola be-inspired

BE INSPIRED WITH ARINOLA

Team BIA: Can we meet you?

Arinola be-inspired: I am Oseni Islamiat Arinola. I am known as Arinola be-inspired. I am a biochemistry student of the University of Ilorin. I am a writer, blogger, a serial Volunteer and an Alumnus of Mike Oladipo Global Leadership School. I have taken online courses with gapminder, Microsoft and YALi Network. I’m currently undergoing one with ISERH and also part of YALi West Africa Cohort 13 undergoing course on Civic Leadership.

Team BIA: How was your growing up experience?

Arinola be-inspired: Hmm. Growing up has been good all thanks to my mum. That woman is everything to me. She has sacrificed a lot for me and I know. I just hope someday, somehow I would be able to make her happy because I can’t pay her back. The sacrifices have been huge.

Team BIA: What or who inspired you to start this platform; Be-Inspired-With-Arinola.

Arinola be-inspired: Yes, I got this BIA idea when I heard of a certain uncle of mine, he studied political sciences in the University of Ilorin where he had his B. Sc and M. Sc and he’s yet to get a job. I started thinking why would someone who has Masters certificate would still not get a job!

Then I discovered that truly, Nigeria is not a place you should depend on certificate alone, you should acquire some skills that would make you stand a better chance in the labour market.

Then I started BIA with the plan that if I invite people that have actually succeeded in combining academics with other skills in school then students might be Inspired to take the same challenge.

Team BIA: Can you tell us your experience in higher institution so far?

Arinola be-inspired: It has been good. I mean I’m enjoying it. I made friends, met people, grew and learnt. I think it’s my best so far.

Team BIA: Is school really a scam?

Arinola be-inspired: No. School is never a scam but academics without basic skills is a scam!
The thing is this everything works together to brand you into someone every organization would love. Going to school, learning, acquiring basic skills, meeting friends and getting the right connections, You should do all of that in school. School is the best place for that.

Team BIA: How have you been balancing academics with your personal day to day activities?

Arinola be-inspired: I prioritize. I tried my best to understand what is important at a time.

During exam period, I stopped all of my activities. A lot of people reached out to me asking why I stopped , I told them academics is my priority now.
After exams, I’m back to everything I do.
Sometimes, I just have this thoughts about  what will happen to a child from a poor background, poor skills and poor grade?.
That’s why I push hard to do everything I do at a time it should be done. I prioritize.

Team BIA: Who’s your mentor?

Arinola be-inspired: I have a lot of mentors, so I’d mention a few. They are Seun Awogbenle, Yemisi Ajeojo, Mike Oladipo, Abideen Olasupo, Dr O. K Bello and a lot of others. I love what they do and I hope someday I would do better.

Team BIA: Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

Arinola be-inspired: This is something I can’t answer, I really do not like to give myself a particular goal for a period of time because I believe I can do better than what I have achieved at that time.
5-10 years from now, I want to be better and greater and known to be a good person.

Team BIA: Do you see any hope in Nigeria?

Arinola be-inspired: Yes, I do. I believe someday, somehow Nigeria would be great again. I know the future isn’t promising but I still believe in a greater, better and one Nigeria.

Team BIA: Can you mention some of the ideas, you’ve had or implement?

Arinola be-inspired: One of the ideas I have had and implemented is BIA.

Another one is on it’s way which would be an affiliate of BIA. I’m currently working on it.

Team BIA: If three of your wishes can be granted, what would they be?

Arinola be-inspired: 1. My mum, I want my mum to get everything she wanted, she has ever wanted and wishes to have.

2. I want all my friends and fans of BIA to be successful in their respective fields, as success is better enjoyed with friends.

3. I also want a better, greater and one Nigeria

Team BIA: Any word of encouragement to the youth out there?

Arinola be-inspired: Keep doing what you are doing and knows how to do best. It will pay off some day. Things might not be encouraging now but someday, somehow it’ll pay off.

Team BIA: We are glad to have you.

Arinola be-inspired: It’s an honour.

    Wow!
You’re actually getting there @CEO BIA,don’t worry Tee Humble as a fan of yours is solidly with you.
I will keep addressing you as “BOSSLADY”, reason is that, it is rare nowadays to have a young lady as you wise enough to inspire others.

In shaa Allah, your mum will enjoy the fruits of her labour via you and others… Aamiin

    One love @BIA
