Interview with ORACLE (voice of the students)

     BE INSPIRED WITH ARINOLA

Arinola be-inspired(host): I’m Oseni Islamiat Arinola. I’ll be your host on today session of Be inspired with Arinola. Kindly introduce yourself ma. While introducing yourself ma we would like you to tell us your school, department, level or year of graduation if graduated.

Guest:I am Tokosi Rukayat ORACLE, I am a 500level student of University of ilorin studying Agricultural and biosystems engineering and I specialise in Soil and water Engineering.

Arinola be-inspired: What are the things you did together with academics to earn money?

Miss Rukayat: I sell human wears. I act and model and also participate in air scout.

Arinola be-inspired: Last session you contested for the post of the student union vice-president but things did not go as planned, What are the lessons learnt?

Miss Rukayat :The lessons learnt from it can’t be measured with money and they are what I’m building on right now outside the four walls of the university.

Arinola be-inspired: Would you advice any student who aims at the very top in his/her academics to get involved in school politics?

Miss Rukayat: Of course yes, like I said earlier no amount can buy the experience gathered…

Arinola be-inspired: Do you think school politics is a waste of time and energy?

Miss Rukayat: Of course NO, the experience is needed for you to have a leverage outside the four walls of the university

Arinola be-inspired: Have you ever volunteered for any organization?

Miss Rukayat :Yes, alot

I am a youth volunteer for One African Child foundation (www.oneafricanchild.com), a non-governmental organization hinged at creative learning for the African children.

On the 19th to 20th of September,2019 I participated in a training of trainer organised by United Nations office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) under the Doha Declaration which was fully funded by Government of Qatar, the training was hinged at Education for justice.

I also volunteer for Fight Against Desert Encroachment (FADE) as a youth volunteer in order for me to preach a peaceful environment and favourable climate for all.

Ma, during the late months of last year 2018 when depression was rampant I powered a movement which I tagged “SAY NO TO SUICIDE”, it was in form of an outreach and a reasonable amount of students were helped. I also volunteer for say no to rape and clean up movements.

Arinola be-inspired : Has school politics and volunteering help you in any way at all?

Miss Rukayat: Of course yes… Have been winning and dinning with intellectuals, CEO, executive directors of doing well companies because of the experience I gathered as a volunteer and a one time contestant for the position of vice president student union. And trust me these wonderful personnels are people that impact positively and massively in humanity.

Arinola be-inspired: How do you balance school politics, business and volunteering with academics? And were your academics affected at all?

Miss Rukayat: Not at all… I was able to balance it with proper time management, they are many things I do aside school politics and volunteering (act, model, dance, air scout etc) and they don’t affect each other… I’m just blessed with that skill.

Arinola be-inspired: If you are given another opportunity to contest again, what would you do better?

Miss Rukayat :Nothing, I will do just the same thing I did, but if I am given the opportunity to contest again, I won’t have to stress things because I have and I am still proving unilorites beyond doubt that  *I AM WORTHY*, with or without the position.

Arinola be-inspired: Were your parents aware you are involved in other things aside academics in school? Did they give their consent?

Miss Rukayat:Of course… My mum has always been supportive.

Arinola be-inspired: Your quote BeWORTHY, what does it mean to you?

Miss Rukayat: My quote BeWORTHY, it means to be honourable and admirable… I am living what I preach, I am in a way motivating those that look up to me to be sufficiently worthy.

Arinola be-inspired :Do you love and enjoy what you do?

Miss Rukayat:  Yes I do, and I am passionate about service to humanity because I believe it is not just a donation but an INVESTMENT in humanity and I will like to give others the same opportunity I was given.

Arinola be-inspired: Your advice to students out there who would love to do more than just academics?

Miss Rukayat:My advice to all, is to stay focus and never be  distracted , as long as you’re passionate about what you’re doing, you will surely be  EXEMPLARY!.

Arinola be-inspired: What is your best inspirational quote?

Miss Rukayat:All progress remain at a state of rest until a mental force is applied to it.

Arinola be-inspired: Thanks for having us ma.

Miss Rukayat: You are welcome.
